Honoring Dalia Moran
The Herzog family and the “Yad Chaim Herzog” memorial foundation wish to honor Dalia Moran, who has served for over then a decade as the chief archivist of “Yad Chaim Herzog”. Dalia had a significant contribution to the preservation of the legacy of Israel’s 6th President.
Dalia Moran was born in 1935 in Givatayim. In her youth she was a member of the “Nativ Sade” Gar’in and ha’Noar HaOved VeHalomed (Working and Learning Youth) youth movement. Later, Dalia was one of the first members of Kibbutz Ga’ash. During her years in the kibbutz, she fulfilled several positions in the education and secretariat departments of the kibbutz. Dalia has also served as a representative of the Jewish Agency for Education and Aliyah (immigration) in Lima, Peru.
At the age of 50, she completed a master’s degree with honors in archival sciences and quickly became one of the senior archivists in Israel. She began working at the Yad Ya’ari archive in Givat Haviva and was a member of the Supreme Council of Archives of the State of Israel, a member of the board of the Archivists Association and the comptroller of the association for two terms. She was also a member of the secretariat of the Kibbutz Archivist Organization, and an honorary member of the national association since 2009. As a mark of appreciation to her work, the Artists Collection division of the kibbutz movement in Givat Haviva was named after her.
In 2007, Dalia Moran accepted Aura Herzog’s request to serve as the director of the archives of the 6th President of the State of Israel, Chaim Herzog. Dalia Moran’s large experience in the complex field of personal archives, as well as the high professional appreciation shown to Dalia by her professional colleagues, led the Herzog family to entrust her with the sensitive and valuable task of creating this archive, which preserves an important and meaningful chapter in the history Israel.
Dalia Moran met her partner Rami when he was the coordinator of the Holon branch of ‘Hanoar Haoved VeHalomed’ (Working and Learning Youth). The two were parents of four daughters: Marit, Neta, Asia, and Meirav. Dalia Moran passed away in 2021.
