Chaim Herzog’s children

 

Chaim and Aura Herzog had four children:

Joel, their eldest son, was born in 1949. He served as an officer in the Intelligence Corps in the Israeli army. Later he started working as a businessman and partner in international real estate and trade projects. Joel, a resident of the city of Geneva in Switzerland, is very active in the Jewish community in his country and serves as the president of the Israeli-Swiss Association and chairman of ‘Yedidei Yad Vashem’. He is married to Marguerite, daughter of late businessman and philanthropist Nissim Gaon. Joel is a father of four children and grandfather of six grandchildren.

 

Michael, their second son, was born in 1952. Michael has served for nearly four decades in the Israel Defense Forces, including fighting in the Yom Kippur War. In his advanced positions he was the head of the Strategic Division in the Planning Directorate and military secretary of four ministers of Defense at the rank of Brigadier General. Michael was a longtime member of the peace process talks between Israel and its neighbors and served as a research fellow at the Washington Institute. In 2021 he was appointed as Israel’s ambassador to the United States. Married to lawyer Shirin Herzog and father of two.

 

Isaac, their third son, was born in 1960. He served as an officer in the Intelligence Corps and was a lawyer at the Herzog-Fox-Naaman firm. Later he turned to public and political activity and served as secretary of the government, member of the Knesset and minister in the ministries of Housing and Construction, Tourism, the Diaspora and Welfare and Social Services. Isaac was also the leader of the Opposition and a candidate for Prime Minister, Chairman of the Jewish Agency and in 2021 he was elected with record support for the position of President of the State of Israel. Isaac is Married to lawyer Michal Herzog and father of three.

 

Ronit, the youngest daughter of Aura and Chaim Herzog, was born in 1964. She served as an officer in the intelligence corps. After her service Ronit studied psychology and she has been working as a clinical psychologist for many years. Ronit is also a lecturer and teaches in several educational institutions in Israel. She is a mother of two daughters.
